Jim Rogers Investing In Sri Lanka?
This morning, I came upon a piece from the website LankaEverything.com (Sri Lanka) that referred to legendary investor Jim Rogers. Specifically, it said:
A few weeks back, Asian investment ‘guru’ Jim Rogers visited Sri Lanka on an unofficial visit, met bankers and the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).
So, is the Singapore-based investor putting money into Sri Lanka these days?
Rogers is undoubtedly bullish on the prospects for the South Asian island country.
Back on June 3 I posted about a recent interview of Rogers by Economic Times (India) staff, in which he stated:
In my view, investing in Sri Lanka in May 2009 is probably a better bet than Pakistan, Bangladesh, India or some of the other countries nearby.
And on July 6 I talked about a Bloomberg piece that summed up an interview that was done with Rogers the same day. According to Bloomberg:
Stocks in Sri Lanka are the only equities Rogers said he would consider buying at the moment.
So is the former partner of George Soros in the legendary Quantum Fund investing in Sri Lanka? I haven’t seen or heard anything to confirm this. However, I, for one, wouldn’t be surprised if he is.
